DevHive

Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 17, 2026

1. Who We Are

DevHive is operated by Che Clarke and is available at devhive.tools. We provide 94 free browser-based tools across categories including PDF, image, text, developer, SEO, finance, and AI utilities.

For privacy or legal questions, contact us at: hello@devhive.tools

2. How Our Tools Work

The large majority of DevHive tools process everything entirely within your browser. Files you upload, text you paste, and data you enter are handled locally on your device and are not sent to DevHive servers.

A small number of tools do send data to third-party APIs to function. Those exceptions are listed below in sections 4 and 7.

3. Data We Collect Automatically

3a. Hosting and Infrastructure Logs

Our hosting provider Vercel automatically collects standard server logs including your IP address, browser user agent, pages visited, and timestamps. These are used for performance monitoring and security. See Vercel's privacy policy for details.

3b. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site. It collects anonymised IP addresses, browser and device type, pages visited, and session duration. You can opt out using the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. Google's privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.

3c. Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on the site. Google AdSense and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Serve ads based on your prior visits to DevHive or other websites
  • Measure ad performance, prevent fraud, and manage frequency
  • Deliver personalised or non-personalised advertising depending on your preferences and location

You can manage or opt out of personalised advertising at adssettings.google.com. Google's advertising privacy information is at policies.google.com/technologies/ads. Other third-party vendors or ad networks may also serve ads through Google AdSense and may use their own cookies subject to their own privacy policies.

4. Tools That Send Data to Third Parties

4a. Grammar and Spell Checker

Text entered in the Grammar Checker is sent to the LanguageTool public API for analysis. We do not store this text. LanguageTool's privacy policy is at languagetool.org/legal/privacy. Avoid pasting highly confidential content into this tool.

4b. IP Address Lookup

The IP Lookup tool sends your public IP address to a third-party geolocation API (ipapi.co) to retrieve location data. We do not store this data. It is processed transiently in your browser session. See ipapi.co/privacy.

5. AI Tool Disclosure

Some DevHive tools are labelled as AI utilities, including the AI Prompt Generator and Cold Email Generator. These tools currently use template-based generation running client-side in your browser. No text you enter in these tools is sent to an external AI API unless explicitly stated on the tool page.

If any tool is updated to use an external AI API (such as OpenAI or Anthropic), this policy will be updated to disclose: the provider name, what data is sent, the purpose, data retention, and a link to the provider's privacy policy.

6. Cookies and Browser Storage

DevHive does not require account, login, or subscription cookies. However, third-party services used on the site, including Google Analytics, Google AdSense, and related Google scripts, may set first-party cookies, third-party cookies, local storage, pixels, or similar technologies for analytics, advertising, fraud prevention, frequency capping, security, and performance measurement. You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings, and where required, through our cookie consent controls.

Browser Storage by Our Tools

Some DevHive tools use your browser's localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB, or temporary memory to store preferences, draft inputs, generated outputs, or tool state locally on your device. This data stays on your device and is not sent to DevHive servers unless clearly stated. You can clear this data at any time through your browser's storage settings.

7. EU, UK, and Switzerland

For visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, we use a consent management solution where required to request consent for analytics cookies, advertising cookies, local storage, and personalised advertising. You may accept, reject, or adjust your consent choices where the consent banner is available.

If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland and have not seen a consent prompt, please contact us at hello@devhive.tools.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights including access, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection to processing.

  • GDPR (EU/EEA/UK): Contact us or the relevant third-party service directly.
  • CCPA (California): Right to know, delete, and opt out of sale of personal data.

Because DevHive does not maintain user accounts or store personal data directly, most requests should be directed to the relevant third-party services (Google, Vercel, LanguageTool, ipapi.co).

9. Data Retention

DevHive does not store user data on its own servers. Retention policies for third-party services (Google Analytics, Vercel logs, etc.) are governed by those services' own policies.

10. Children's Privacy

DevHive is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal data through the site, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
